Psychologist – Early Childhood

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Therapies, the incumbent will provide developmental assessments, diagnoses and intervention for pre-school children (birth through school entry) who are experiencing developmental and behavioral problems.  This position involves ongoing family/caregiver counseling and education using play-based transdisciplinary model, observational and standardized testing.  This position is part of an interdisciplinary team of professionals.

 

Qualifications:

 Masters Degree in Developmental, Clinical, or Educational Psychology

Full practicing member of the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists with Authorized Practice Endorsement.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

 Experience working with families of children with significant challenges/special needs/disabilities/delays preferred

Ability to communication effectively

Demonstrate understanding of assessment and evaluation which leads to a practical plan of action

Knowledge of diagnostic classifications used in the diagnoses of the population served

Computer skills for data management and statistics

 

Number of Hours:

As per regular (8 hour) full time rotation.

Salary:

As per current HSAS/SAHO Collective Agreement.

Clinical Manager – Professional Services, Saskatchewan and Manitoba

 

Homewood Human Solutions is seeking an experienced mental health clinician or registered psychologist to serve as Clinical Manager, Professional Services, for Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The position involves a combination of management and clinical work.

 

This position will report to the Regional Director of Professional Services, Central Canada and be based in our Saskatoon office.

 

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or equivalent, or PhD in Counselling or Clinical Psychology

· Minimum 5 years counseling experience including 2 years in a supervisory role

· Must hold valid certification or registration with their provincial governing body

· Expertise in solution-oriented counseling and knowledge of  EFAP services, including assessment and crisis management services

· Beneficial if expertise in crisis and critical incident response

· Strong knowledge of process, research and best clinical practices regarding mental health, impact of psychological issues and workplace dynamics

· Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, French skills is an asset

 

Main responsibilities:

· Work collaboratively with the Professional Services team and other departments

· Manage and provide clinical supervision to staff clinicians in different offices

· Manage a clinical network of service providers in Saskatchewan and Manitoba

· Oversee quality assurance and best practice protocols

· Provide clinical services (counselling, workshops, assessments, crisis management or corporate trauma response, and/or other)

Minimal travel will be required

VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION SPECIALIST

Permanent and Temporary (until September 2012) Vacancies - Regina Office

 

The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist participates as a member of a case management team and is involved in the management of  injury claims.  You provide information, assistance and counseling to clients returning to work by helping the client develop a vocational rehabilitation plan.  This includes guiding the client through upgrading, retraining and job search strategies and negotiating employment placements.

 

You have strong problem solving, customer service, interpersonal and program planning skills.  You possess good listening and communication skills and work well on teams and independently with minimal supervision when required.

 

This is a field position.  Applicants must have a valid class 5 driver’s license and must be able to travel.  A vehicle is provided.

 

  A university degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or a health related field such as Nursing, Kinesiology, or Occupational Therapy and  three years of experience counseling persons who have a disability or disadvantage.

 

.            Education must include classes in  the following core areas:

Assessment Approaches

Disabling Conditions and/or Disadvantaged Groups

Intervention and Strategies

History and Systems Related to Human Services

Professional Ethics

Communication and Interviewing Skills

 

Candidates must hold or be eligible for the Certified Vocational Professional (CVP), Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) or the Certified Canadian Rehabilitation Counselor (CCRC) designation.

 

OR

 

B.     1)  A two year post-secondary (60 credit hours) diploma in vocational services or disability studies

OR

2)   A combination of one year post-secondary program (30 credit hours) in vocational services or disability      studies plus an additional one year of post-secondary classes (30 credit hours) in the social sciences field.

 

       PLUS  seven (7) years experience counseling persons who have a disability or disadvantage, two of which must

      be spent providing employment/vocational services.    Education must include classes in the core areas listed

     above.  Candidates must hold the Registered Vocational Professional (RVP) designation.
